Golden Pleats

I wear a lot of scarfs and headbands in the summer because I don't like my hair touching my sweaty face. It's not even summer yet and the scarfs have already made their debut. That's how hot it's been lately. Luckily, the temperatures cooled down a few days ago. It also brought a lot of wind and that's always an adventure with this skirt.

I should have taken a close-up of this scarf. It has a cool pattern with pretty colors that compliment my skirt perfectly.

On Wednesday, I wore head-to-toe GAP. Well, almost. The sandals are from Bakers and the scarf is from Cream Vintage.

Nautical Natalie

Wednesdays used to be my "me" days. Well, I had class from 10-2, but then I was free! Now, I still have class, but I'm also working from 4-9. Luckily, class will be over by the end of next week and then I can finally relax.

On Tuesday, I wore a dress from Blanco that I bought in Santander, Spain two years ago, a vintage Oscar de la Renta blazer from Cream Vintage, and shoes and earrings from Target.

Pretty in Pastel

I'm a couple days late posting this outfit, but what else is new? Even though I didn't have any plans for Easter Sunday, I still wanted to look festive at work. As you've recently seen here and here, I've been wearing a lot of these 80's dresses that have 50's inspired elements (full skirt, fitted waist, and conservative cut). It's quickly becoming of my favorite vintage dress styles because it's so flattering and comfortable.

On Sunday, I wore a dress from Cream Vintage, a belt from Goodwill, and shoes from Target.

Color Blocking 101

Sometimes, I surprise even myself. I found this skirt at Golden Fur Vintage on Etsy for only $10! What a steal! I think I'm still suffering from the shock of finding it.

You wouldn't think a red-orange maxi skirt would be so versatile, but it really is. I've already worn it twice since I got in in the mail last Thursday. I can definitely picture it with a lot of tops already in my closet, so get ready to see this skirt repeated many times.

On Friday, I wore a vintage skirt from Golden Fur Vintage, an Old Navy tank top and Bakers shoes.

Can't Say No to Oscar de la Renta

It was both fate and love at first sight when I saw this blazer. I've been on the hunt for a well-fitting, navy one for awhile. I didn't want anything too expensive, but I also didn't want it to be crappy quality. Then, I stumbled upon this baby at work, an authentic Oscar de la Renta blazer that only cost me $13 with my employee discount. It was hiding in the racks, waiting for me to find it! I'm so glad I did.

On Thursday, I wore a Forever 21 dress, belt from Goodwill, '70s Oscar de la Renta blazer from Cream Vintage, and shoes from Target.

Target: My Guilty Pleasure

I managed to score the dress that I've been obsessing about since I read this post by my favorite fashion blogger, Jessica, from What I Wore. I went to the nearest Target and just so happened to see this one lone Tucker for Target dress in a size XS. I decided to try it on even though I'm never an XS because it looked about the perfect size for me. And it was!

I hadn't been to Target in months, so I went all out and bought this purse and some earrings that look big pieces of rock candy. It wasn't easy paying retail prices, especially with all the thrifting and vintage shopping I've been doing lately. I've gotten used to wearing previously owned clothing that costs about a third or fourth of the price of anything I could ever find in a place like Target or Forever 21. I did get the dress and purse on clearance, though.

On Wednesday, I wore a Tucker for Target dress, a belt from Goodwill, a Merona purse from Target, and sandals from Bakers.

Le Sigh

Oh, my. It's been a super busy week. Working two jobs is not as easy as I thought it would be, especially on top of all my classes. I don't even have the weekend to look forward to because I'm trying to squeeze in so much. There are only two weeks left of class, but they'll probably be the worst of this whole semester. I've got tests, projects, and papers up the wazoo.

On Tuesday, I wore an American Apparel skirt, GAP shirt and denim jacket, headscarf from Cream Vintage, and Target flats.

The Color Purple

My wardrobe is going to expand significantly as I continue to work at Cream Vintage. This dress was one of the first things I bought with the store credit I've earned during my training. I say "one of the first" because I've bought about four more things since then. I'm not going to think about what happens when I run out of credit...

This dress fits really well AND has pockets. The sleeves are a little wonky, but rolling them up fixes that. I can definitely see this becoming a go-to dress because it makes me feel so pretty and purple.

On Monday, I wore a dress from Cream, a belt from Goodwill, and shoes from Target.

Cheap Thrills

This whole outfit was a total bargain. The dress was only $4! I did spend an additional $7 to get the sleeves shortened, but $11 was worth it for such a fun dress.

These $20 shoes have already paid for themselves with the number of times I've worn them. To top it all off, the belt was only $3.

Do I know how to shop or what?

On Saturday, I wore a dress from Savers, a belt from Goodwill and Target shoes.

Turn Around, Brights Eyes

This dress is one of my most prized possessions. I bought it four years ago in a boutique in Rome, Italy.  I can always rely on this dress to put me in a good mood. It brings back memories of pizza, gelato, and wine.  And old friends :)

On Friday, I wore a dress from Ethic, a belt from Goodwill, and Sam Edelman sandals.

Remixed Referee

This is not a referee's shirt, but Matt thinks it looks like one. Unless all referees look this cool when they wear maxi skirts, I don't agree.

This was an outfit I thought of after wearing my chambray shirt in a similar way here and here.  I'm so pleased with the way it looks that now I want more button down shirts. I plan to stop by both Goodwill and Savers for a few more whenever my life slows down.

On Thursday, I wore a thrifted shirt from Goodwill, an Urban Outfitters skirt, Sam Edelman sandals, and a plastic bracelet from the clearance bin at Oat Willies.

3rd Skirt In a Row

I feel like I've been running around all day like a chicken with it's head cut off. It feels nice to sit down and relax. So, instead of boring you with how long and tiring my day was, I'm going to close my computer, open a beer and watch TV.

Oh! I almost forgot.

On Wednesday, I wore a GAP t-shirt, American Apparel skirt, thrifted cardigan and belt from Goodwill, and Mootsies Tootsies sandals from Buffalo Exchange.

I'm a Vintage Clothing Fanatic

Today was my first real day working at Cream Vintage. There's not much to say, except that...

I love it!

I've worked in retail quite a few times, but never had the chance to sell anything that I'm actually really passionate about. If you haven't realized it, I'm obsessed with vintage clothing!

It was a little slow at the store today, being the middle of the week, so I didn't get too many chances to practice my selling techniques. I work both Saturday and Sunday, so I'm sure I'll get plenty of opportunities this weekend. I want everyone to come visit me at the store! I'll help you pick out something awesome :)

On Wednesday, I wore a shirt and belt from Goodwill, a skirt from Buffalo Exchange, and shoes from Target.

If you haven't done so yet, check out Rags from the Past, the blog I'm writing with some classmates about the vintage and thrift store scene here in Austin.

Fish Hooks

I don't own enough animal-themed items. These fish earrings, my leopard print belt and shoes, and faux snakeskin purse are all that make up the animal category in my closet. I guess that might be enough for someone who doesn't enjoy dressing up as much as I do. But I need more!

Along with pajama pants like these and these, I'm now on the hunt for more animals to add to my wardrobe.

Not real ones, of course.

On Monday, I wore a Gap skirt, Old Navy shirt, Forever 21 earrings, and Mootsies Tootsies sandals from Buffalo Exchange.

Matt took these pictures of me. He was also the one to suggest walking to a new area to take them. I think he did a pretty good job :)

New Bohemia

I bought an awesome dress from this South Congress vintage store over the weekend. If you'd like to read more about New Bohemia, check out the most recent posts on the Rags from the Past. This blog is filled with great information and reviews about the local vintage and thrift stores here in Austin.

That 70's Dress

I've been waiting for the perfect day to wear this dress. I'm not sure what made Thursday so special, but it just felt like the right day. It's one of the many dresses I've bought from Cream Vintage over the past few months. The number of items in my closet just from Cream is getting a little ridiculous and it's not going to end anytime soon because...

I work there now! Well sort of. I still have my other job on campus, so I'll only work a little bit until the semester is over. Then, it's me and Cream Vintage all summer. Woo hoo!

On Thursday, I wore a dress from Cream and Sam Edelman sandals.

My Lack of Photography Skills

Now that the sun isn’t going down until around 7:30, taking outfit pictures is getting pretty difficult. I never seem to have time in the mornings before I leave, so I usually take pictures right when I get home. Depending on the day of the week, that’s usually between 3 and 6, when the sun is bright and shining. I never knew this until I started taking my picture every day, but direct sunlight is the worst. So, please excuse the different shades of each photo. At least the wind made everything look cool!

On Wednesday, I wore a dress and necklace from Forever 21, a GAP denim jacket (different from this jacket), and flats from Target.

Boa Tarde
Good Afternoon

I was assigned an interesting project in my Portuguese class today. I'm supposed to record an example of Portuguese being spoken here in Austin. I even got to check out an iPod touch to record it with. I think I'm going to put my journalistic skills to use and interview this great Brazilian couple that lives downstairs. We've only spoken a few times, mostly when I'm outside taking outfit photos, but they are always really nice. Still, it will probably be a little awkward when I knock on their door for an interview. Maybe I should bake them some cookies as a bribe to let me in.

I'm looking forward to this project. Now that I think about, I've actually been enjoying most of my work this semester. Why did it take until the end of my college career for the classes to get interesting?

On Tuesday, I wore a GAP dress, a knitted shawl from Cream Vintage, and Moostsies Tootsies sandals from Buffalo Exchange.
