This outfit makes me feel like I should be riding a magic carpet. I don't know if it's the print of my top or my flowy skirt, but I like it either way.

My project at Texas Monthly will be over soon, probably by the end of this week. Both my boyfriend and my best friend are graduating this Friday, so if I'm not done with my work at the end of Thursday, my project might run over into next week. I work both Saturday and Sunday at the bridal salon, so I'll have to squeeze in celebrating somehow.

Even though I graduated over five months ago, it seems like it was just yesterday. It feels weird to not call myself a "student". If I'm not a student, what am I? Maybe I'll feel differently when I find a job that I actually consider a career. Which reminds me, I should start checking the Houston job market again since I'll be moving in July. It's going to be like I just graduated all over again, applying for any job that seems applicable to my work experience. I'm definitely not looking forward to writing a ton of cover letters and never hearing back from possible employers. Searching for a new job is never enjoyable unless you know the right people. So...does anyone know who's hiring in Houston?

Free Time

I've already seen a huge difference in the amount of time I have to myself with this new job. I'm done by 5 p.m. four times out of the week, which leaves me with plenty of time to run errands and get things done. I've been really wanting to update my Etsy store, but I didn't have time when I was working retail hours. With all my free time, I should be able to get a couple of items posted over the next few days.

I have a decent pile of vintage clothes in really good condition (mostly thrifted) and I wasn't sure if I should just try to sell them to Buffalo Exchange or a local vintage store for quick cash. I've been making pretty steady money on Etsy, so I think it's worth the extra effort to sell them on my own. After I get the store up-to-date, I'll start working on all the other things I haven't had time for. I have a huge pile of clothes that need to be hemmed or mended, not to mention that I haven't worked out since 2011. One thing at a time...

My Dashiki Dress

I wore these wedges on Wednesday for about 20 minutes, 10 of which were spent outside taking these photos. It started raining while I was posing and it became awfully hard to walk on the wet ground. I didn't slip, but it sure felt like I was going to fall flat on my face. I switched to flat sandals when I got back inside my apartment, but didn't want to stand outside in the rain again to re-take pictures. The dress is the most important part of my outfit anyway. It's one of my favorite vintage purchases because it's comfortable, easy to throw on, and perfect for summer.

I did a random search for dashiki while I was writing this post and stumbled upon this pattern on Etsy:

How awesome is this? It's my dress! The pattern is from 1972 and although my dress has a tag, it looks eerily similar to the dress pictured here. Seeing this makes me love my dress even more!

Tribal Take Two

I wandered all around my apartment complex trying to find the perfect spot to take these pictures. I think it's safe to say I found my new photo spot! It's actually not in my apartment complex, but at the doctor's office next to it. This wall is the perfect backdrop because it had just the right amount of shade to produce a well-balanced photo. Unfortunately, it's a pretty high-traffic area, so it's almost impossible to avoid an audience. Cars were whizzing by and a couple of people walked passed me while I was taking these photos. 

This outfit isn't anything special, but it's very comfortable. I was in the mood to wear something casual and simple yesterday morning and this top fit the bill. Matt said it's looks very 90s and I completely agree. I hope whoever owned this bold, southwestern print shirt before I did wore it with overalls or a vest, a la Clarissa Explains It All.

Jungle 2 Jungle

Y'all remember that movie? I still watch it when it's on TV. Well, I did back when I had cable. Maybe that's one to keep in our DVD collection.

This is one of the three tribal print items I've bought in the last week. Mind you, all three items cost me less than $15 total. This particular dress was probably less than 50 cents, but it made me feel like much more than that. I might not look like 500 bucks or even 50, but I felt very comfortable and very "me" in this outfit. I think that's what matters most anyway.
