Spring Cleaning in the Summer

I’ll be moving next month so I’ve been trying to get my apartment, and more importantly, my closet, organized. After three years of living together, my roommate and I have decided to part ways and live with our boyfriends. It’s going to be a long ordeal dividing everything we’ve bought together. Although I’m excited to move in with Matt, I really like living with my roommate, who has consequently become my best friend.

I’m hoping to downsize the amount of stuff I own to make the move a little easier. To start, I’m getting rid of clothing and shoes I haven’t worn in the last year and a half. I already sold a few things to Buffalo Exchange last month, but I’ve already started a new “take to Buffalo” pile in the corner of my room. I’m getting rid of seven pairs of shoes and a bunch of random clothes. I never had enough hangers for all my clothing, but now I have too many! I’m not complaining because that means I can replace everything I got rid of with better stuff.

Interestingly enough, I am planning to sell those wedges I’m wearing for a new pair. I have my eye on these Lucky Brand platforms or these Seychelles wedges.

On Saturday, I wore a Gap shirt, a vintage skirt from Goodwill, and a necklace and wedges from Target.

Sorry for Slacking

I've been allowing myself to take off way too many days from blogging. Matt was in town this weekend, and even though I worked both Saturday and Sunday, we had a great time. We partied on 6th St., fell asleep in our clothes with the lights on, and then woke up in time for a Groupon brunch at Russel's Bistro. Basically, I was too busy having fun to find time to work on my computer.

I'm glad I enjoyed my weekend, but it's time to get back to work. In between spending as much time as possible with Matt, working at the store, keeping up with my newest project, the official Cream Vintage blog AND this personal style blog, I'm feeling pretty good about this summer. I don't have to read silly textbooks or go to pointless classes. Instead, I get to spend my time thinking about vintage clothing. I can't think of a more perfect summer. Well, only if Matt were back in Austin. I guess we can't have it all.

On Thursday (& Friday), I wore a skirt from Buffalo Exchange, a Forever 21 top, Steve Madden wedges, and a necklace from Sears. I should have taken a better picture of it because you can't really tell that it's a jade elephant. I bought it when I worked at the Sears jewelry counter in high school.

Lace & Dots

I was pleasantly surprised when I put this outfit together. I had a hard time deciding to buy this skirt because I wasn't sure what to wear with it. My step-mom, Rose, came to the rescue with a bag of goodies she picked out for me at an estate sale. She gave me three vintage polka dot blouses and five vintage scarfs. Score!

I don't normally mix patterns and fabrics like this because I never know if it works. As soon I put these two together though, I knew it was a winner.

What do you think?

On Tuesday, I wore a Forever 21 skirt, a vintage blouse, and Zara shoes from Buffalo Exchange.
