I know I just posted this skirt, but I really do love it that much. It's the perfect shade of red and the pleats make me feel so lady-like. Red is one of my favorite colors, so it's weird that I don't have more red in my closet. Fortunately, I thrifted a pair of red suede Franco Sarto heels this week and I can't wait to wear them. Now that I don't have to walk to class and around campus, I really don't need to wear flats anymore. OK, who am I kidding? Of course, I'll still wear flats, but it's nice to know it's not out of necessity. Obviously, I won't be wearing heels erryday, but it will definitely be more often than before. As I've mentioned before, I love being at least 5'5" and I can't do that without the magic of heels.

I'm heading back home to Austin today, but there's not much time for relaxing. I'll be working at Cream Vintage from Thursday through Monday and I have my last final on Tuesday. Then, right after my job interview in Houston on Wednesday, I'm heading to Cancun with Matt on Thursday. Yes, you read that right: I got an interview!!! I don't want to give away too many details about this pending job because I don't want to jinx it, but let me just tell you that I'm absolutely determined to get it. I'm so glad to be leaving the country for a whole week right after the interview because I'm definitely going to need to get away. I'm probably going to be a ball of nerves until next Wednesday when it's all over.

I bought this lovely skirt on Smashion, which is a great website where anyone can sell their used or new clothes and accessories that need a new home. This skirt belonged to Linda from Little Tin Soldier, one of my favorite Texas-based blogs. I didn't even know it was her skirt until after I bought it and then I was even more excited because she has great taste. Check out how she wore it here. I wanted to wear it immediately even though it was a cold and rainy day (hence the cloudy pictures), so I decided to wear it with a sweater. I'd never tucked in a sweater before, but I think it worked. What are your thoughts on tucking a sweater into a skirt?

I'm sorry about the lack of posts for the last few days. It was a super busy weekend with graduation on Saturday and then driving the five hours back home to Harlingen on Sunday. Although there isn't much to do in the Rio Grande Valley, I've been keeping myself busy. Aside from being lazy at my mom's house, I've been exploring the amazing shopping I never even knew existed when I lived here. I'm not talking about fancy shopping malls or boutiques (because those are nonexistent here); I'm talking about my favorite kind of shopping--secondhand, or as they call it in Spanish, ropa usada.

A good friend of mine who used to live in Brownsville, a neighboring city in the Valley, told me about some shops near the U.S. - Mexico border that sells really cheap used clothes. I decided to check them out and boy, was I in heaven! There must have been around 10 shops selling used clothing for very low prices. I gave myself a limit of $30 and ended up spending it in the first few shops I went into. I bought five skirts, two dresses (one covered in sequins!), a pair of heels, and a tie (for Matt). The stores were just like regular thrift stores, but everyone was speaking in Spanish. I really wish I had known about these places back when I lived here, but I guess I wasn't really into wearing thrifted clothes back then anyway. Now, I have something to keep me busy whenever I come home to visit my mom!
