My New Hobby

I had my first sewing lesson this weekend! My teacher is really nice and patient, which I appreciate because I'm a total beginner. I learned to use a sewing machine and practiced about 10 different seams. I already knew it, but man, sewing is tough! It's going to take a lot of practice to get to the level I'd like to be at. I was so excited after my lesson that I bought a used sewing machine off Craigslist yesterday. It came with its own cabinet and chair, too! Of course, I spent about two hours last night setting it up and playing with it instead of doing my reading for class today. Oops.

On a side note, I also finished my video project about Treasure City Thrift for my class blog, Recycled & Reworn. Check it out!

Is it Fall or Not?

I hope my last post is enough of an excuse to explain my recent absence. Before I knew it, Friday had arrived and I am way behind in this week's blogging. It's tough to keep up with posting on all the blogs I'm currently working on: Recycled & Reworn, Cream Vintage and, of course, this personal style blog.

This was the first time I've worn a cardigan since...well, I can't even remember. It's been so hot here, I haven't thought about layering in at least the last six months. Even though it's still been in the 90s, it feels like such a relief compared to more than 100 days of over 100°. I'll admit that I was a little hot wearing this, especially during my walk to class, but it was worth it.

It's definitely going to be a shock when it actually gets cold here. I might freeze when it just gets down to 50°. Even though I'd love to live where it snows, I'm not so sure I'd survive in such an environment. I'd still like to try though!

Not Quite Scarf Weather

I've got a a busy week ahead of me. After class today, I'm conducting a video interview at Treasure City Thrift for my class blog, Recycled and Reworn, squeezing in some quick thrifting at Texas Thrift Store (30 percent off on Tuesdays for college students!), buying sushi-making supplies with Matt, and ending the day celebrating National Taco Day with good friends. And that's just today! The rest of the week is filled with paper-writing, video-editing, and working at the store until the weekend, when I'll be spending time with my mom. She's coming to Austin to visit my sister and I for a few days. I can't wait to see her!
