Lazy Day Off

It's my first day off after working ten days in a row and I've been deliciously lazy. In fact, I'm still in my pajamas and wearing my glasses. I made myself a great breakfast and enjoyed my coffee in an actual mug instead of a travel coffee cup. I plan to have a stress-free day and avoid all the things I don't want to do, i.e. clean the apartment and figure out my loan consolidation stuff. Instead, I'll paint my nails and plant the seeds I bought a few weeks ago. For now, I'm off to lunch with Matt for a pre-date to our fancy dinner date tonight.

Unexpected Combination

I surprise myself sometimes. I used to think I didn't like brown and pink together, but somehow I ended up wearing this yesterday. I've been getting in the habit of setting aside clothes I haven't worn in awhile as a reminder to wear them. It helps me decide what I should actually keep in my closet. If I can't find a way to wear it in a week, there's no reason to keep it. I hadn't worn this sweater or dress in months, so I hung them on my closet door with the intention to wear them this week. I added brown tights and boots, and voila, I had an outfit. I got quite a few compliments on this ensemble, which did good things for my ego. I have a few other things hanging on my closet door, so hopefully you'll be seeing them this week. If not, out they go!

Long Weekend

What a weekend! I worked 22 hours over the last three days. It might not sound like much, but it sure feels like it because I worked all last week and I'll also be working today and tomorrow. Thankfully, I have a day off on Wednesday! Of course, I'm not complaining because I definitely need the money, but lately I've realized how hard it is to keep up with blogging. Working retail, especially on the weekends, means I'm usually not home before the sun goes down. So, I'm going to start making an effort to take pictures before I go to work. It's hard to wake up earlier than I need to, but I'm willing to do it for my blog. I've been wearing cute outfits all weekend, but I didn't get a chance to take any pictures. Such a shame!

Attempting to be an Entrepreneur

If you don't already know, I've recently started an Etsy store selling vintage clothing. I started it less than a month ago and I've already sold two items! I literally jumped for joy when I got the email telling me that I'd sold my first item. The novelty of selling something all by myself still hadn't worn off yet when I sold my second item yesterday. I like to check my email while I'm still in bed in the mornings (as a way to avoid actually getting up) and when I found out I sold another item, I jumped out of bed and fist-pumped the air. No joke. Thanks, Etsy, for getting me out of bed.

I started the store without knowing if anything would actually sell. I just wanted a way to get rid of the stuff I have piling up in my closet...and in the dining room. I'm not doing it so much for profit (although it's been nice), but more of way to give these great vintage pieces I have a home. It's a good feeling knowing that someone is getting use out of out of the awesome stuff I don't have room for anymore.

Of course, it was dark by the time I got home from work on Saturday. Story of my life. I really liked my outfit, so I decided to make do and take some photos outside. Actually, Matt took them because I wasn't going to try using my tripod in the dark.

I've only worn this coat twice, but both times I wore it with orange. It was only after I decided to wear it with my brightest orange skirt that I realized I had already worn it with an orange sweater. You wouldn't think leopard and orange would look so good together, but they really do! I think I must have read this article sometime in the last six months and subconsciously decided to try it. What do you think about this combination?

Even though I love shopping secondhand, I still enjoy a good retail purchase every now and then. If money wasn't an issue and I could buy anything my heart desired, I'd pick these four things. At least, for my first list. I spend a lot of time window shopping online, so I might as well pick my favorite "as if" items and tell someone. That's where you all come in. I'm going to do a weekly wish list so you guys know what to buy me for Christmas. Just kidding! 

Thrifted Treasure: Denim Vest

Even though you guys have probably seen this vest on here before, I wanted to feature it as one of my thrifted treasures. It's probably one of the best things I've thrifted and, even better, it's from my all-time favorite thrift store, the Goodwill Blue Hanger. I've only owned it for a few weeks, but I've worn it countless times. I think Matt is pretty sick of seeing it, actually. Well, it's good news for him that it's probably going away into storage pretty soon. You can't really wear a sleevless denim vest in the winter, right?

Confessions of a Compliment Seeker

I was shopping at HEB wearing this outfit when a lady stopped me to ask me where I got my dress. It probably shouldn't have made me as happy as it did, but I couldn't help it. I'm not sure why, but there is something so pleasing about getting a compliment about my clothing from a stranger. Maybe I like being acknowledged for my sense of style or maybe I just have some self-esteem issues I was unaware of. I liked my outfit all day before this nice lady had ever seen it, but then I loved it after she told me how much she liked it. Instead of trying to figure out why that is, I'm going to use that logic and give myself a compliment everyday. Take that, self-esteem!

My New Favorite Skirt

Nobody ever told me velvet was so comfy to wear. It felt like I was wearing a pajama skirt all day. In fact, this skirt is totally my version of the pajama jeans. I know those have been around for awhile, but I just saw the commercial for the first time today. I was amazed, not because I wanted them, but that anyone would actually be foolish enough to buy a pair of super strechy spandex jeans that probably show off every lump and bump you want to hide. Instead of wearing stretch pants, try a super soft skirt instead. You'll thank me.

It's Thursday! That means it's time to show off one of my latest thrifted treasures. I thrifted another great pair of shoes over the weekend. This time, it was a pair of black leather boots for only $12.99. It was a total coincidence that I was able to keep up the alliteration from last week (Brown Boots). I wonder if I can thrift a burgandy belt or a brown beret next week. I'll keep my eyes peeled!

I didn't intentionally dress in our nation's colors this day, but I decided to go with it. Who am I to deny my subconscious patriotism? Anyway, I was really looking for a reason to wear these booties, which only cost $26 and are really comfortable. I'm so excited to finally start wearing all my fall boots again. You know, now that it's a chilly 80° and all. I've been trying to wear the shoes that have only seen the inside of my closet for months, so you'll be seeing some of my favorites in the next few posts.
