My Grass Skirt

Gap blouse, maxi skirt from Urban Outfitters, Montego Bay wedges from Payless,
Forever 21 earrings and leather jacket

I've been really into wearing bright colors together lately. My obsession with pink has flourished, so I bought this blouse last week as a way to cope. I justified it because I didn't have a pink top and it actually goes with a lot in my closet. I usually think of my outfits the evening before because I don't like to stress out about it in the morning, but I threw this together the morning of. I was so inspired by the brightness of the blouse that I wanted to pair it with an equally bright skirt. I really liked the end result. One of my co-workers told me it looked like I was wearing a grass skirt, which was definitely a compliment rather than an insult. In fact, it made me love this outfit that much more.

Pink Lace

vintage dress from Buffalo Exchange, vintage blazer from Cream Vintage,
thrifted Nine West wedges from the Goodwill Blue Hanger, vintage pearls from my step-mom

This is an outfit I wore to work at Alfred Angelo yesterday. I was working with a bride who wasn't really into lace dresses, but wanted to try one on to be sure. After trying on about five mermaid dresses, I put her in one of our best-selling lace dresses. Although she liked it, we both knew it wasn't really her. She was a really vivacious hairdresser with red hair and a va-va-voom body that begged for a fitted mermaid gown with some bling. The whole time she had the lace dress on, I kept describing it as sweet, girly, and romantic. It was only after the fact that I realized I was wearing lace myself. Pink lace, at that. I never really thought of myself of the sweet, romantic type, but I do love this dress.

Maybe my clothes tell me more things about myself than I thought...

Bright & Shiny

thrifted skirt, Forever 21 top, Old Navy sleeveless trench coat,
belt from Wish (closed), earrings from TargetBanana Republic flats

This outfit was my latest attempt at being more creative with the clothes already in my closet. I don't think I've ever thought to wear this top and skirt together before, but it just made sense while I was getting ready for work at 7 a.m. yesterday morning. It was slightly chilly outside, so I threw on this sleeveless trench coat for an extra layer. Finally, I added sparkly earrings and shoes and voila, I have a bright, springtime outfit!

Summer in February

thrifted skirt, Old Navy chambray top, Steve Madden wedges, Target earrings

It's only Wednesday and I'm already thinking about the weekend. Not that I really have a weekend because I work both Saturday and Sunday, but it's still something to look forward to. I even look forward to events I can't attend. For example, this Saturday is Treasure City Thrift's 25 cent sale. Since I'll be working (surprise, surprise), I can't go, but you should totally check it out if you have nothing else to do that day.

On another note, can you believe I'm wearing this in February? It's been so warm lately! I haven't worn these wedges since last summer, so I forgot that they start to hurt after a few hours. Even though they're wedges, I have to train my feet all over again. I love them so much, I'll bear the pain. I know my boyfriend thinks that's messed up, but I don't. I love being four inches taller than I really am, even if it means being a litter uncomfortable.

Obsessed with Pink

tank top and jeans from Gap, lace cardigan from Forever 21, thrifted Nine West wedges

It all started after I got these jeans at Gap. All of the sudden, I want everything pink. I've always been a fan of the color, but now I want more of it in my closet. Pink makes me feel girly and pretty, so you can expect to see me wearing it more often. At least until I get over my obsession.

Here are a few pink things I have my eye on. Someone really needs to stop me before I buy them all.

Old Navy floral maxi dress
Banana Republic lizard belt
Do you have any colors you've been lusting after lately?

Homemade Dress

thrifted homemade dress, heels from Banana Republic,
belt from Wish (closed), vintage pearl necklace from my step-mom

The fact that someone actually made this dress at home blows me away. It fits perfectly and flows so beautifully that I could never imagine making it myself. I bought it at a thrift store in Harlingen while I was visiting my mom for Christmas. I was really excited to go to this particular thrift store because it didn't exist when I lived there. I ended up finding this amazing dress was only $5!

I haven't been thrifting as much lately because I've been working all the time, but believe me, I've been thinking about it. There are some great President's Day sales today that I wish I had time to go to. Definitely check out Savers or Thrift Town if you get the chance!

Polka Dot Pants

thrifted pants, top from Forever 21, necklace from Target,
vintage bracelets, Montego Bay wedges from Payless

Along with working almost everyday, I've also been occupied with something else lately--a TV show. Matt and I used to watch Lost when it was popular a couple of years ago, but we lost interest and never finished it. Matt recently noticed that it was on Netflix, so we decided to finish the series. What a MISTAKE. My evenings after work have been taken over by Lost. Luckily, we finally finished the series and I can get back to my normal life. It's dangerous for me to get into a TV show, especially when I have an entire series at my disposal. Netflix is both a curse and a blessing.

Wearing My Heart on the Outside

top from Buffalo Exchange, Halston Heritage skirt from Julian Gold,
Montego Bay wedges from Payless

Of course I wore my obnoxious heart shirt on Valentine's Day. It would have been a shame to not wear it since it's so appropriate. Don't worry, I only wore it during the day and not out to dinner with Matt. For our date at The Melting Pot, I wore a pink lace vintage dress with a sweater, fancy earrings, and some wedges. I wish I'd gotten a picture, but we were in a hurry to catch the bus downtown. We ate so much and had such a good time. I mean, how can you not have a blast dipping food in cheese and chocolate while also drinking wine? You know how you look forward to something for so long and before you know it, it's over? That's how last night felt. In fact, I'm feeling almost sad today because yesterday was so much fun. I had a great day off and ended the night with my favorite person in the world. Today, it's back to work. Oh well, I guess that's life. Until my next day off!

Lazy Day Off

thrifted Ann Taylor blouse, Gap skirt, Nine West tights from Marshalls,
earrings and boots from Forever 21, vintage coat from Cream Vintage

It's my first day off after working ten days in a row and I've been deliciously lazy. In fact, I'm still in my pajamas and wearing my glasses. I made myself a great breakfast and enjoyed my coffee in an actual mug instead of a travel coffee cup. I plan to have a stress-free day and avoid all the things I don't want to do, i.e. clean the apartment and figure out my loan consolidation stuff. Instead, I'll paint my nails and plant the seeds I bought a few weeks ago. For now, I'm off to lunch with Matt for a pre-date to our fancy dinner date tonight.

Oh, and Happy Valentine's Day!

Work, Work, Work

thrifted vintage blouse, Levi's jeans from Urban Outfitters,
DV Dolce Vita wedges from Nordstrom, Forever 21 earrings

If I worked a normal 9-5 salaried job, today would be my Saturday. Unfortunately, I'm working my ass off in the world of retail. I've worked between seven to 11 hours a day for the last five days in a row and I'm TIRED. I'm not sure when my next day off is, but I do know for sure I'm working through Sunday evening.

As much as I love complaining about it, I really am glad to be working instead of being in school. At least when I'm home after a long day of work, I don't have any homework. The only homework I have is what I assign for myself including maintaining this blog, which I haven't been doing a very good job of. I've also been slacking on my Etsy store as well as keeping up with my writing for Broke & Chic. I don't know how other bloggers with full-time jobs do it all!

Instead of stressing about it, I'm going to start coming up with ways to make time for everything. First of all, I need to start waking up at the same time everyday, so that I can have some sort of routine. Next, I need to get a planner. I always had a planner for school, but I didn't think to get one this year because I'm no longer a student. It's no wonder things aren't getting done. I need to write them down!

Wish me luck on making these changes!

Catching Up

Gap shirt, Halston Heritage skirt from Julian Gold,
Banana Republic flats, vintage coat, Forever 21 necklace

I feel like I haven't blogged in forever, but really it's only been a few days. I've been working 9-5 the last couple of days and have been way too tired to even think about blogging when I'm finally home. Luckily, I'm not working until later this afternoon, so I have some time to catch y'all up on what's new in my life.

First things first, I got a new iPhone! It's not the newest one, just a white iPhone 4. I really didn't want a new one, but my old iPhone 3G finally died after two and a half years. I'm surprised it made it that long, especially after dropping it in a cup of tea last summer and reviving it in a bag of rice. I really like my new phone because apps don't randomly crash, it doesn't take me five minutes to send a Tweet, and and the camera is awesome. Yay for technology!

Other than the new phone, everything else is the same. Matt found his old food dehydrator, so he's been making a lot of dried fruit and meat. He's working on perfecting his beef jerky recipe and I have to say that he's definitely improved with each batch. There is some meat marinating in the fridge right now that will be dried overnight and I can't wait to try it when it's done tomorrow. I love me some beef jerky.

OK, enough about me. I have something else to share with you! If you're in the Austin area, I'd love if you came out to Gap at Central Park tonight. We're having a fun fashion event showcasing the new spring line along with complimentary cocktails and finger foods. There will be exclusive discounts on the new merchandise for those of you who come out tonight. The more the merrier, so bring your friends!

If you can't come by tonight, check out some of my favorite items online. I want everything!
